Key Idaho Test Information

Identification requirements
Applicants must present acceptable documents establishing your identity/birthdate, residency, and provide your Social Security Number (SSN), if eligible. Documents must be original or certified copies. Applicants must not provide photocopies or self-laminated documents.
Age Requirements
Driver Training Permits (DT) allow anyone 14 1/2 and under 17 years of age to attend any public school or private driver training program.
For drivers under 16 years old: travel is only allowed between 5am and 10pm unless you have a valid licensed driver who is at least 21 years of age sitting in the front seat beside you.
For drivers under 17 years old: During the first 6 months from the date the license was issued, the number of passengers in the vehicle who are under the age of 17 shall be limited to not more than one passenger, unless the passenger(s) are related to the driver.
Knowledge Test
The test contains questions on traffic laws, road signs and rules of safe driving. All questions are based on the materials found in a driver’s handbook.
Idaho‘s knowledge test consists of 40 questions, of which 34 must be answered correctly to achieve a passing grade.
Vision Requirements
Any applicants requiring corrective lenses must wear them whilst taking the test. If the applicant fails the vision examination and it is determined that lenses are needed then the applicant will be required to wear them whilst driving.
