Key Nevada Test Information
We have pulled out some important highlights of information related to the Nevada state tests. But this list is not exhaustive. Please review the driver’s handbook for details on Nevada state laws and for how to prepare
for your written and practical driving tests.
Identification requirements
Applicants must present acceptable documents establishing your identity/birthdate, residency, and provide your Social Security Number (SSN), if eligible. Documents must be original or certified copies. Applicants must not provide photocopies or self-laminated documents.
Age Requirements
Young-driver licensing rules in Nevada:
- Teens can obtain a learner permit at age 15½.
- To progress to an intermediate (minor) license at age 16, they must hold the permit at least 6 months, complete 50 hours of supervised driving (including 10 at night) or 100 hours if driver-education isn’t available, and have a clean record.
- During the intermediate stage, restrictions include: no passengers under 18 (except siblings) for first 6 months, and no driving from 10 p.m.–5 a.m. unless for work or school activities.
- A full, unrestricted license is available at age 18, or after completing the intermediate phase without violations.
Knowledge Test
The test contains questions on traffic laws, road signs and rules of safe driving. All questions are based on the materials found in a driver’s handbook.
Nevada‘s knowledge test consists of 25 questions of which 20 must be answered correctly to receive a passing grade.
Vision Requirements
Any applicants requiring corrective lenses must wear them whilst taking the test. If the applicant fails the vision examination and it is determined that lenses are needed then the applicant will be required to wear them whilst driving.
